A total of 398 estate surveyors and valuers have shown interest in evaluating assets finally forfeited to the federal government during the Request for Proposal (RFP).

Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Disposal of Forfeited Assets, Mr. Dayo Apata (SAN), who is also the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, said yesterday in Abuja that out of the 398 estate valuers that indicated interest for the RFP, 355 submitted their bids while six firms were rejected.

Politician and publisher of online news platform, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, was accompanied to the Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on Tuesday by a man in a red and black striped sleeveless knee-length dress and a matching cap. The man, who did not reveal his name, was among Sowore’s supporters who were in court to witness proceedings in his trial, along with four others, on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful assembly and incitement.

The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, on Tuesday insisted that he would reveal the identities of people behind the abduction of over 300 students of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Jangebe in the TalataMafara Local Government Area of the state. The governor, who stated this in an interview with one of our correspondents in Gusau, the state capital, however said he would make the revelation after the abducted schoolgirls, who were released earlier on Tuesday, might have been reunited with their families.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday, remanded a Dutch national, PeiterBorremans, and his wife, Nkechi, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly swindling two firms out of the sum of $330,000 meant for the purchase of a marine tanker vessel. The couple and a firm, Lagon Trade Limited, were arraigned by the EFCC before Justice E. A. Obile on two counts of fraud and felony.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Niger State Command have recovered 27 new rifles from two suspects during a routine stop and search operation in Kontagora area of the state. The suspects; Danjuma Auta, 35, and Daniel Danrangi, 25, both male and from DirinDaji, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, were arrested along Kontagora – Zuru road, Niger state on Monday night.

The National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), on Tuesday said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had approved the declaration of Zamfara State a no-fly zone to tackle the security challenges. He said the President also approved the stoppage of mining activities in the state, which has been witnessing cases of banditry with the latest being the last week’s abduction of students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe.
