The immediate past Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, was yesterday grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

over allegation of N9 billion fraud. A source said the former governor was being grilled by a crack team of operatives at the headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi, Abuja.Ahmed was said to have arrived at the EFCC headquarters at about 10 am in response to the invitation extended to him by the agency.

The Defence Headquarters on Monday charged the human rights community to deploy the same energy being used to mount pressure on the government to respect human rights provisions in the country on terrorists to lay down their arms. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, gave the charge in Abuja at the commencement of three-day training on African Commission Guidelines on Human Rights in Counter Terrorism Operations, organized by the Centre for Strategic Research and Studies of the National Defence College in collaboration with the Open Society Initiative for West Africa.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called for an end to open grazing to tackle insecurity and address farmer-herder crisis in the country. Audu Ogbe, ACF chairman, disclosed the forum’s position in a statement issued in Kaduna, on Monday.Ogbe said “the ACF does not see any reason to object to a decision taken in the best interest of all”.

The governors of the 36 state of the federation would be convening their 30th teleconference meeting on Wednesday (tomorrow) to address matters such as the contentious Executive Order 10 and the third wave of COVID-19. The Director General of the Governors Forum, Mr. Asishana B Okauru, is expected to brief the forum on the series of Executive Order 10 meetings with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, about the ongoing industrial action by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JSUN) and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PSAN).
