A thirty-year-old man, Emmanuel Ajomafuwe, on Friday pleaded with the Lagos State Panel on Restitution for Victims of SARS and Related Abuses to help him get justice for his girlfriend, Ada Ifeanyi, who, according to him, was shot dead by a policeman.

Another witness, Mrs. Hannah Olugbodi, narrated how her left leg was shattered by a stray bullet fired by officers of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) two years ago, while the widow of a Lagos State Traffic Management (LASTMA) officer, Rotimi Adeyemo, killed by a policemen at Iyana Ipaja two years ago asked for scholarships for her three children up to the university level. As the President, Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), receives the probe report of corruption allegations against the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, there are indications that a fresh battle for the soul of the anti-graft agency may have begun, ADELANI ADEPEGBA reports. If there is any indication that the goose of the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, might have been cooked and perhaps served, it is the recommendation by the Justice Ayo Salami panel that the Federal Government should look outside the police for the headship of the anti-graft agency.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay Saturday said any indictment by the Justice Ayo Salami-led panel against the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, cannot stand legal scrutiny. He said he was unperturbed with the conclusion of the panel set up to investigate allegations of corruption against Magu because the panel “did not follow any rigour of law. It is as if they followed their impulse.”
