A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State has sentenced two brothers for impersonating officials of the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The brothers, Beyioku Olatunji (a.k.a Bashorun), Beyioku Oluwayomi Oluwafemi (a.k.a Ola 1) were arraigned in January 2020 on 18-count charges bordering on conspiracy, impersonation, forgery, money laundering and obtaining money under false pretences.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has sent to jail 126 people across 14 states in Nigeria between January and February 2021. Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said on Thursday in Abuja that of the convicts, Musa Ibrahim who was prosecuted for trafficking 40kg of cannabis sativa in Akure, Ondo State was sentenced to 16 years, eight months by a Federal High Court in the state capital.

The Akwa Ibom State High Court 2 sitting in IkotEkpene, has found Professor Peter Ogban guilty of electoral fraud brought against him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The commission had taken Ogban to court on a two count charge of fraudulently tampering with the election results in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

$1.3M CASH FOUND IN PANEL MEMBER’S HOUSE TENDERED IN COURT – NATION PG.4, NATION PG.7, THISDAY PG.44

About $1.3million cash  and other currencies recovered from a member of the Presidential Committee on the Procurement of Arms and Equipment in the Armed Forces, Air Commodore Umar Mohammed (rtd), were on Thursday tendered before a Federal High Court in Abuja by the Federal Government. Umar and his firm, Easy Jet Integrated Services Limited, are being tried on a three-count  of alleged money laundering, illegal possession of firearms and classified documents without authority.

The Supreme Court yesterday commented on a petition written against three members of the five-man panel set up to hear an appeal on the disputed Imo North Senatorial District election. The court had, on March 23, suspended hearing on the appeal filed by a politician, Francis Ibezim, pending the outcome of the petition, allegedly written by the Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni.

Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana, yesterday prescribed the late Obafemi Awolowo’s template on animal rearing as a way out of the incessant kidnapping, attack by herdsmen and other related security issues in the country.
