Nigerians on Tuesday set agenda for the new service chiefs.They expect more respect for human rights and innovation in the fight against insurgency, banditry and kidnapping.

The National Assembly, governors, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), major socio-cultural groups and other eminent Nigerians want the service chiefs to “hit the ground running”.

COURT ORDERS FINAL FORFEITURE OF OVER N700M LINKED TO EX-ZAMFARA GOVERNOR YARI – NATION PG.6, SUN PG.4

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of various amounts, estimated at about N700 million, linked to former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari. The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) claimed that Yari kept the funds in accounts in Zenith and Polaris banks, using his two companies, Kayatawa Nigeria Limited and B. T. Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday discharged and acquitted four persons charged with examination malpractice along with former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the last governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke. In a ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo upheld the defendants’ no-case submission and proceeded to discharge and acquit them.

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday justified the clash between its security outfit – the Eastern Security Network (ESN) – and the military. It also claimed that five residents of Okporo community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State were killed when ESN men clashed with soldiers last Friday.

There was pandemonium in Abuja as one person was reportedly killed during a clash between the police and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shi’ites in Abuja. The group on Tuesday staged the protest near National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) junction in Maitama with placards to demand the unconditional release of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife from Kaduna Correctional Center.
