A graduate of Civil Engineering, Samuel Oteyowo, has bagged 14-months-jail-term for defrauding an American of the sum of N19.6m.
Oteyowo was charged with a one-count amended charge of criminal impersonation for defrauding Warren Doht of an amount totalling the sum of N19,664,128.50 via the internet.

A Director with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ayo Olowonihi, has been appointed as the Commandant of the EFCC Academy, the EFCC has said. Olowonihi, who was on Grade Level 17 was suspended by the then acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, in 2015 and then demoted to Grade 16 by Magu in 2017. The aggrieved director subsequently instituted a case against the EFCC before the National Industrial Court.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has recovered two suitcases of cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The narcotic, weighing 21.9 kilogrammes, was the largest single seizure made by the Airport Command of the NDLEA. This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Principal Staff Officer, Public Affairs, NDLEA, Jonah Achema.

The Centre for Ethical Rebirth Among Nigerian Youths (CERANY) has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing retired Brig.-Gen, Buba Marwa as Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Mr Chuks Akamadu, President, CERANY, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.He described the appointment as timely, urging Marwa to strive to implement the reports of the Presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse (PACEDA).

A Federal High Court in Abuja has reversed an earlier decision by its former Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Abdul Kafarati, to re-assign to another judge for alleged N1.9 billion fraud case against former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu. In a judgment on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo overruled Justice Kafarati and held that the ex-CJ acted in breach of Section 98(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) when he re-assigned the case file to a new judge to begin afresh after the prosecution had called 10 witnesses and tendered several exhibits in evidence

The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Aisha Alkali Wakili (aka Mama Boko Haram) for alleged fresh fraud. Wakili was arraigned on Monday before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court, sitting in Maiduguri, the state capital, on a fresh three count charge involving criminal conspiracy and obtaining N41,777,750.00 by false pretence. She was arraigned alongside Tahiru Saidu Daura, and Prince Lawal Shoyede, Programme Manager and Country Director of Complete Care and Aid Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO).
