IGBO GROUP DEMANDS KANU’S EXTRADITION TO FACE TERRORISM CHARGES – SATURDAY SUN PG. 10

A group known as the Movement Against Dissidents in Nigeria (MADN) has called for the extradition of the leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu to face terrorism and other incitement charges.

Rising from a meeting convened in Owerri, the Imo State Capital Yesterday, co convener of the group, Obinna Osita noted that Kanu and his group’s antics have continued to paint the southeast and Ndigbo in bad light.

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese Rev Matthew Kuka says the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd)  has sacrificed the dreams of Nigerians on the altar of nepotism by allegedly pursuing Northern hegemony. Boko Haram Jihadists killed at least 7 people in a Christmas Eve assault on a village in Borno, local sources revealed on Friday. The Department of State Services (DSS) had in recent days warned of an increased risk of attack during the Christmas holiday.

The United Kingdom has distanced itself from the alleged financial looting levelled against a former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, by a member of its parliament, Tom Tugendhat. The action followed a petition to the British Parliament by a group, Igbo for a Progressive Nigeria (IPAN), demanding details about the allegation.

829 STUDENTS, 8 TEACHERS ABDUCTED FROM SCHOOL IN 6 YEAR – DAILY TRUST PG. 5

Daily Trust Saturday investigations show that some 829 secondary school students in Nigeria have been abducted in the last six years by bandits and Boko Haram. The figures are derived from reported cases in the media since 2014. The Kankara abductions drew the attention of the global community in the way that the 2014 abductions of 276 school girls from Chibok by Boko Haram did. While the Kankara boys were released after six days in captivity, over a hundred of the Chibok girls remain unaccounted for.
